Ascension weekend 2022: 26 to 29 May

Includes 4 - day trip to the Black Forest

To govern is to predict: After the turbulent period surrounding the pandemic, we will be completely ready again in 2022 to go on a concert tour together!

Together with hundreds of other wind music enthusiasts from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium we travel to the heart of the Black Forest, Freiburg Im Breisgau. The Orpheus Musikfest Freiburg takes place here in a beautiful location in the middle of the city; a 2-day festival in which wind music is central. Naturally, the local harmony, the Freiburger Blasorchester, will also make an appearance.

The festival is getting a lot of attention from the local media and we expect a massive influx of thousands of people. There is a large beer garden and restaurant on site where you can enjoy a snack and a drink.

Seebuhne

The Bürgerhaus at the Seepark with “Seebühne” is the ideal backdrop. The location is very popular with many locals. And this is not so strange; you can swim in the lake, there are boats for rent, a mini golf course is nearby, a watchtower with a beautiful view over the city and the forest, a large beer garden (approx. 600 seats) and a restaurant can be found on the terrain.

The stage is beautifully situated on the water and has good acoustics.

Bad weather alternative

Freiburg offers a pleasant and constant climate.

Should it unexpectedly rain, the spacious hall in the Bürgerhaus, home of the Freiburger Blasorchester, offers a perfect alternative.

A large stage, big enough for your concert band or fanfare, many seats (approx. 550 seats) and large patio doors to the beer garden and the lake.

Music Pavilion City Park

A few minutes walk from the city center, in the middle of the city gardens, there is a beautiful music pavilion which we have hired to give a nice concert .

An ideal setting during your concert trip.

Opening

The festival opens with the hymn of Europe “Ode an die Freude” from Ludwig van Beethoven's ninth symphony.

This is played by our symphony orchestra and all musicians will join in on the well-known melody.

The audience can participate by singing the beautiful lyrics!

Everyone is welcome to participate.

Your concert

Each concert band or fanfare receives 1 hour of stage time per concert during the concert trip as standard

Playing longer is also possible on request.

With a covered stage of… at…. Meter there is enough room to perform.

In bad weather we play indoors, there is also a stage of more than 8 x 7 meters (possibly to be expanded).

Spectacular ending

We will end the festival musically with a symphonic performance of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Naturally, this includes a spectacular ending, the supreme moment: together with all participating associations we form a gigantic orchestra and we will close the famous 1812 together!

Hundreds of music lovers, the beautiful decor overlooking the water, the fraternity with all other participants, the music, the cannon shots and finally a spectacular fireworks show ... success guaranteed!
